Health and nutrition have been one of my areas of interest. This fascination was especially ignited by my dear father who has always been an advocate for healthy eating and physical exercise.
He has been and is adamant against processed food items as long as I can remember. And evidently, his last visit for full body check up demonstrated nothing short of a ‘perfect score’. Which was impressive for a man of his age.
Hence, this sparked a question, ‘what is this mans doing right?’. Growing up, I admired and tried to pick up his sense of discipline, amongst other various good traits. This paved the way for me to be curious about natural ingredients of multiple common food items in Ethiopian/Eritrean dishes. Having a medical background myself, the path in developing this application has been a fascinating one.
What I’ve envisioned and brought to life is an easily accessible platform that would provide people who are eager and yearning to find out what they are taking into their body; after all, it’s like that saying, you are what you eat.
In this app (Android). I’ve tried to include common Habesha meals and their ingredients with their specific health benefits. Also includes of the Body Mass Index algorithm which roughly correlates a person’s weight with their height in estimating if he/she is underweight, normal or over weight.
Developing this application has brought me great joy and I hope it will do the same for you by helping you to live a healthy life.
